NYHOLM WINS ON F-4S TROPHY DEBUT
F4-S

ABU DHABI (UAE) - Thursday, 10 December, 2015 - Anton Nyholm capped a perfect outing on his F-4S Trophy debut cruising to an emphatic victory in race 1 from pole position.

The race was yellow-flagged at the end of the first full lap when Team CTIC China's Wu Bingchen lost the front end, flipping and crashing out, his second accident in Abu Dhabi in two years.

Also losing out early on was Trophy newcomer Paolo Longhi, the Motorglass F1 Team driver retiring with technical problems.

The remaining seven boats were held under yellow for several laps while they grouped to take up their original start positions, with Team Sweden's Nyholm taking charge from the restart, the 22-year-old musician from Helsinki untroubled throughout and running out the winner by 11.49 seconds.

Team Abu Dhabi's Rashed Al Qamzi finally mastered the start, but from P2 was unable to get close to the race leader, leading home a quartet of UAE teams to take second ahead of Team Emirates Mansoor Al Mansoori and his [Al Qamzi] teammate Mohamed Al Mehairbi.

Team EMIC's Joakim Halvorsen moved into third spot on lap 6 of 18 but hooked the boat on lap nine, dropping down the chasing pack to run out the race in fifth.

The big surprise of the day was the lack of pace shown by F1 GC Atlantic's Mike Szymura who, after a lacklustre eighth in qualifying managed only sixth spot ahead of Mad Croc BABA Racing's Ferdinand Zandbergen.

Despite his poor outing championship leader Szymura still has a sizeable 34 point advantage over Joakim Halvorsen, who now looks to be his only serious title challenger.
