CERNOBBIO, Italy - Wednesday, 19 October: Ahmed Al Hameli gave some of the more experienced and established names in Class 1 something to think about in last weekend's Italian Grand Prix in Cernobbio on Lake Como after grabbing two sensational podium finishes.
The Team Abu Dhabi F1H2O star received an eleventh-hour call up from the sister Class 1 team to step in for the injured Rashed Al Tayer and immediately made his presence felt.
Teaming-up with Majed Al Mansoori the scratch pairing, racing together for the first time and both with just one previous class 1 start under their belts, were immediately on the pace and a force to be reckoned with.
They posted third fastest in first practice and backed this up with an impressive third fastest and first podium of the weekend in qualifying in the Edox Pole Position.
In race 1 they converted their third place on the start line to finish in third and on the podium again. And but for a technical problem early in race 2 may well have completed the podium hat-trick.
Al Hameli now prepares for round 6 of the F1H2O Championship, his home Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi on 8-9 December.
