KIEV,Ukraine - 20 July, 2012 - A group of young drivers from Scandinavia and Italy have come to enjoy the atmosphere with dreams of someday racing on the UIM F1 H2OWorld Championship stage.
Current F1 H2O driver from the Nautica Team Marit Stromoy of Norway has "paid forward" her wishes by introducing the sport to hundreds of young school age people in the ground breaking GT-15 class of boat racing.
Marit's wish is to get both young women and men to try out a sport that they may not have otherwise had a chance to discover and give them a platform to show their skills and enjoy the rigors of competition on the water at the same time.
"The kids are really enjoying the experience," said Marit. "We are only half way through the current season and we have a two way tie for first position so it looks like it will go all the way to the end of summer before we crown a champion. This is great for everyone including family members who come from throughout the countries to watch their family members race the boats."
"In the end, I hope we will see some of these smiling faces in F1 someday on the world stage as I currently enjoy."
The battle for qualifying positions and pole to lead the field for tomorrow's 2nd Annual Grand Prix of Ukraine takes place on Friday afternoon beginning at 18:00 local, 15:00 GMT and 11:00 EDT in North America. It can be followed live by going to the UIM F1 H2O World Championship official website at www.f1h2o.com.
