TWO RACE TITLE SHOWDOWN IN UAE FINALISED
F1H2O

ABU DHABI, UAE - Tuesday, 11 October: The final two races to decide the outcome of the 2011 UIM F1H2O World Powerboat Championship will be Abu Dhabi, 8-9 December, and Sharjah, 15-16 December in the United Arab Emirates, following confirmation by Idea Marketing S.A management that a provisionally scheduled second race in China in November will not take place.

Team Qatar’s Jay Price leads the title race on 67 points - despite the drama that unfolded and his disqualification in round 5 at the Grand Prix of China in Liuzhou last week - from teammate Alex Carella, whose fifth place puts him just three points behind in second spot.

But both Team Qatar drivers had their points’ advantage cut by Team Abu Dhabi’s Thani Al Qamzi and Ahmed Al Hameli, who finished first and second in China, with Al Qamzi moving to within 12 points of the Championship leader.

With 40 points on offer from the remaining two events, seven drivers are still mathematically in with a shot at the title; Price holds the upper hand but Team Abu Dhabi are on a roll and hunting down their Middle East rivals after winning the last two Grands Prix, and Price will be hoping that history doesn’t repeat. In 2010 he held a nine point advantage going into the final two races of the season, only to be pipped at the post by Team Mad Croc’s Sami Selio – the defending World Champion now recovering back home in Finland from injuries sustained after a high impact crash in China.

As team’s now prepare for a nail biting two-race showdown in the United Arab Emirates, Idea Marketing and H2O Racing are preparing to launch F1H2O Nations Cup, with their inaugural event, the Grand Prix of Singapore, being held in the spectacular setting of Marina Bay on 19/20 November.
