ABU DHABI, UAE – Tuesday, November 16, 2010 – The much anticipated invitational racing event consisting of a very special group of past World Champions and notable race winners representing their various nations in a one off “Race of Champions” scheduled for early December in Abu Dhabi has been postponed to the start of the 2011 campaign.
The event, leading up to the seventh round of the 2010 UIM F1 H2O World Championship for power boating at the 19th Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi has had it's date changed because of a combination of last minute logistical problems combined with the the United Arab Emirates celebration of their “National Day” on the 2nd of December.
“We are so excited about staging this special one-off celebration of honoring drivers who have helped make this sport so great by their own memorable individual performances over the years,” said UIM F1 H2O series promoter Nicolo di San Germano. “This is going to be such a special and emotional event that it's important that we have everything properly in place. We just ran into too many road blocks combined with the lack of proper time to do it correctly, so, we'll now concentrate on staging this race at the beginning of the 2011 season giving us the proper time to make sure everything goes as planned.”
The race format will consist of drivers representing their country running identical boats and engines that will be used in next years planned new series the “Nations Cup.” The new series will be made up of drivers who dream someday of eventually working their way up to the world's premiere and most challenging racing series on water the UIM F1 H2O World Championship.
Updates will be released as soon as they are made available on this one off celebration of retired World and past race champions.
