LINYI, China – Saturday, October 2, 2010 – After the crash, bang, wallop of the preceeding F4 race, the qualifying sessions of the 'heavyweights' of F1 was a fast and furious affair. The quickest duo on show, Jay Price of Team Qatar and Mad Croc Alex Carrella exchanged pole positions lap after lap until the young Italian Carella finally got the better of wily American Price who will line-up behind Carella for tomorrows GP.
Fellow Mad Croc, former world champion Sami Selio filled third place ahead of Abu Dhabi's Al Hameli and Singha Beer's Francesco Cantando and Thani Al Qamsi. The new qualifying format of the fastest drivers going through to the following session and finally the top ten is proving very popular but Brunai's Maarof Bi Mahari, making his F1 debut discovered the pace was too hot as he was eliminated at the first hurdle.
