Tuesday. March 12: Sweden’s Jonas Andersson was honoured for his achievement in 2023 UIM F1H2O World Championship at the official UIM annual awards’ ceremony hosted by UIM President Dr. Raffaele Chiulli at the Fairmont Hotel in Monaco on Saturday night.
As a member of Team Sweden, Andersson earned a second Drivers’ Championship and added the F1H2O Pole Position to his stock pile of awards, in addition to securing the UIM F1H2O Teams’ Championship for the first time.
"It is always a great honour to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our UIM World Champions, whose dedication, perseverance, and outstanding skills have elevated them to the pinnacle of the discipline in which they compete,” said UIM President Chiulli.
“I only live for this (racing),” said a high-spirited Andersson at the awards’ ceremony. “This is what I do and this is what I love. I have many great people behind me. I am really honoured to be here. It was a sensational season. Racing has been my life and I followed my dream. I started late. I was old but I will continue as long as I can.”
He began the defence of his world title by finishing third overall as the lead driver of the newly-formed Team Vietnam at the recent Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia on Lake Toba in Sumatra.
Action in the 2024 UIM F1H2O World Championship continues with the Grand Prix of Bình Đinh, Vietnam on March 29th-31st.
