ABU DHABI - Thursday, December 2, 2010 – The UIM F1 H2O World Championship Promoter Nicolo di San Germano announced today at a press conference held at the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club (ADIMSC) that the current World Championship is looking brighter with new surprises and venues being added in 2011.
“We are extremely excited first about the installation of a new revolutionary Nations Cup Series that will be added to our calender next year,” said Nicolo. “The new series will represent not just driver ability by national pride with two drivers per nation representing their country and scoring points for their nation with each good result ending with an international trophy at the end of the season to the overall winning team. Ten nations are expected to be represented with a total of 24 boats on hand each race weekend.
This new concept, is coming off the heels of the very successful first season of the F4S Series with each of the ten race teams racing a boat four meters in length with 60 horsepower Mercury engine pushing boat and driver along at over 100 kph marking an introduction to new international talent dreaming of someday moving on to the world of F1.
Nicolo went on to say, that he was also thrilled about the full recognition by the Union of International Motonautique (UIM) into the International Olympic Committee (IOC) last winter at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. Also, the UIM is working closely and underwriting the United Nations Environmental Program focusing in on using cleaner materials, including, Ethanol race fuel that the series uses to power the Mercury 2.5 liter 400+ horsepower engines at each Grand Prix.
“Abu Dhabi and the International Marine Sports Club are leaders in the new philosophy of being cleaner and greener and helping the environment that is sweeping around the world today and I am very proud of there work,” stated Nicolo. “We will not stop making this become a priority in every event planning mission we have in holding a Grand Prix event in the future.”
Speaking of the future, the UIM F1 H2O World Championship is expected to have a nine race calender for 2011 with three races in Europe, three in China and three in the Middle East. The Russian republic of Tatarstan is expected to be the newest event on the upcoming schedule.
The world of the UIM F1 H2O World Championship continues to grow and expand around the world despite the slow world economy. Entertainment is one way to spark the enthusiasm of a public that needs a bit of spice in their lives and the world F1 series is just that right excitement formula.
Nicolo ended his comments by thanking Abu Dhabi, the ADIMSC and their event partners for their support over the years marking this the 17th year and the 19th Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi since its inception back in 1993.
