ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – Tuesday, July 20, 2010 – Just because he had a terrible bout of a rare flu virus that he contracted during the last Grand Prix in St. Petersburg, Russia over a week ago, F1 Atlantic Team driver Fabian Kalsow took to the road once again promoting both his sponsors and his sport between races of the UIM F1 H2O World Championship tour in Heiligenhafen, Germany.
“I caught the flu early in the race week in St. Petersburg and I desperately tried to race but in the end I was just too weak to make the effort,” said the driver from Neustadt, Germany. “I tried during the morning warm-up on Sunday but I soon realized I wasn't up for the rigors of six g cornering on the 2.014 kilometer circuit on the Neva River that evening.”
The 28 year-old driver who has 26 career starts and two top-10 finishes in his last two starts realized that he was going to have to go home and prepare for two days of promoting his sponsor Baltic Kolln at the harbor party in Heiligenhafen. Since he wasn't back to full strength physically he called in his long time friend and veteran F1 and two-seat driver Alex Radovanovic from Belgrade, Serbia to “pinch hit” as a relief driver for the weekend.
“Alex did a great job and I want to thank him for coming in at the last moment making this weekend a huge success for me and my sponsor,” said Fabian.
As the German driver gets back to 100% you better believe that his specialized two-seat promotion boat will be burning through a lot more fuel and fun for the number VIP's he still has planned as he continues to promote the sport this summer in Central Europe.
The next race for the UIM F1 H2O World Championship for power boating will take place on the weekend of the second and third of October in Linyi, China for the third round of the 2010 season.
