ABU DHABI - Friday, December 20, 2013 - The 30th anniversary racing season of the UIM F1 H2O World Championship has come to a close but the highlights are just now being made available for everyone to enjoy again and again during the holiday season and beyond of this historic and memorable season.
H2O Racing is proud to share with Powerboating fans an Highlight package of the 2013 campaign.
It features Italian Alex Carella of the Qatar Team who has now extended his World Title trophy collection to three straight after his star studded performance at the final round last week at the 14th Grand Prix of Sharjah on the Khalid Lagoon in the United Arab Emirates.
The 28 year-old beat out over 20 drivers from 16 various nations who came from five different continents throughout season to try and stop his championship winning streak.
The 2013 campaign featured for the first time a Grand Prix being played out in South America at the Grand Prix of Brazil in Brasilia in early June. This was followed by the always special weekend in Kyiv with not only the Grand Prix event taking place, but the special Match Race “Drag racing” event the next day being held in front of tens of thousands of excited race followers on the Kyiv Sea.
Four times during the campaign different drivers won during the six events and after each race during the seven month journey a new leader was heading the World Drivers Championship.
When it came down to the final weekend in Sharjah, Sami Selio of Finland, Shaun Torrente of the U.S.A., Philippe Chiappe of France would join Carella in the battle for the title. Carella would take the top step at the end of the weekend in Sharjah and lead the drivers in points at the first and most important time, at the end of the season taking his third straight title.
The "Year In Review" highlight package is a fast paced "get to know you" product, that can be used by both race teams looking to introduce the series to prospective sponsors, as well as a tool to help educate people who are looking at the sport for the first time from the outside-in.
The three and one-half minute wrap-up of the 2013 campaign will made available, as are, the "live" Qualifying and Grand Prix events along with the 26 minute "magazine" show. They have been archived on the UIM F1 H2O World Championship tour website at http://www.f1h2o.com as well as their Facebook account at http://www.facebook.com/F1H2O and YouTube for anyone to watch at their own liking.
It's a great way to enjoy a quick synopsis on the wonderful season that saw as many as four drivers fighting it out for a title all the way to the final moments at the last race of 2013 campaign.
We salute Alex Carella and his championship organization of the Qatar Team for their brilliant one-two finish after seven months of racing.
The 2014 campaign will jumpstart with the opener on their home waters in Doha Bay in mid-March 2014.
Until then, enjoy the highlights.
