THE TEAM ABU DHABI AND ALBERTO COMPARATO CEASE THEIR COLLABORATION
F1H2O

Abu Dhabi , Wednesday October 9th - Team Abu Dhabi and Alberto Comparato have decided by mutual consent not to continue their working association. The difficult decision was taken after a period of evaluation and will see the young Italian former F2 World Champion leave the team.

The mutual agreement came on the back of a lack of results and prospects that both parties had anticipated. The five-time F2 World Champion Rashed Al-Qemzi will now join forces with Thani Al-Qamzi for the remaining two races in the 2024 season. Al-Qemzi has already taken part in the Vietnamese round of the series this year.

Comparato said: “When I arrived at Team Abu Dhabi, managed by a 10-time World Champion like Guido Cappellini, I thought that this would be the 'home' where I could realise my world championship dreams in F1H2O. Unfortunately, the performances did not live up to our expectations. I have to admit to myself and to the team that I didn't feel comfortable and calm enough to be able to give 100%. I'm sad because I know I'm leaving a winning and top-level team where many drivers would aspire to go but, in agreement with the team, we think it's the most appropriate decision. I want to thank Guido and all the guys for the trust they had in me. In the future they will be opponents to beat on the water but people I will always respect in the paddock."

Team Abu Dhabi’s team manager Guido Cappellini said: “In my long career both as a driver and as a manager I have many times been called to make or share choices. I have always done it with courage and strength but this decision strikes me in a particular way. Alberto, in addition to being a young talent, is the son of Fabio, my historic teammate and friend, and this makes everything a little sad. It is really difficult to explain why two parties that have all the qualities to get married are unable to do well, but the results, and above all the perception that the prospects are not what we think, have put us at a crossroads that as professionals we have had to evaluate.

“I am certain that Alberto's path, to whom I wholeheartedly wish the best, will be a harbinger of future results, just as I am very certain that our team has the best technical knowledge and human qualities to be able to regain the Drivers' World Championships as soon as possible. The team aspect has characterised the history of Team Abu Dhabi by welcoming new professional and motivated drivers.”
