Saturday, March 30:  The recently-elected acting Vietnamese President Võ Thị Ánh Xuân was present at the official opening ceremony for the inaugural Grand Prix of Bình Định-Vietnam in Quy Nhơn on Saturday morning.

The President was joined by a list of VIPs, local officials and delegates at the opening ceremony hosted by the Department of Culture and Sports. The ceremony began with the arrival of several Sky Riders and Silver Surfers before the banging of the traditional festival drums and a display of a lion dance and Bình Định martial arts.  

The ceremony also saw the announcement of the official opening of the Vietnam Moto Boat and Powerboat Federation in the presence of Mr. Tran Viet Anh, Chairman of the Joint Stock Bình Định F1 company and head of the campaign committee establishing the federation, and Mr. Vu Chien Thang, Deputy Minister of Domestic Affairs.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman Binh-Dinh Provincial People’s Committee, delivered a welcome address and Tran Viet Anh and H2O Racing’s founder Nicoló di San Germano both made rousing speeches.

Each of the nine F1H2O race teams were then presented in tandem with a performance by the local Sky Riders. The ceremony was broadcast live on local radio and Bình Định television.
