CAPPELLINI CHASES DOWN POLE IN ST. PETERSBURG !

Team Abu Dhabi 2nd & 3rd ; Andersson 4th ; Selio 5th And Price 6th !

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia – 14th of June, 2008 – Italian multi-time World Champion Guido Cappellini set the pace all afternoon and turned in just enough of a performance to capture his 2nd straight pole position in 6 days time and will lead the field for tonight’s 6th Grand Prix of Russia the 4th Round of the 2008 U.I.M. F1 World Championship for power boating.

The pilot from Como turned in a blistering time of a 48.15 second lap around the 6-turn 2.014 kilometer course which was .2 of second quicker than his competitor from the Abu Dhabi Team Ahmad Al Hameli who looked like getting his first pole position in Russia with a 48.39 time. Both drivers are tied for 2nd in the championship with 27 points.

Third was his teammate Thani Al Qamzi trying to earn his first points of the season with a 49.00 time while Swedish driver Jonas Andersson was 4th with a 49.11 second lap.

World Champion Sami Selio was 5th in his Woodstock Red Devil Racing BABA machine doing a 49.29 with current points leader Jay Price of the Qatar Team rounding out the top-6 in the shootout doing a 49.36 second lap despite battling a strong case of the flu and being nowhere near 100% as he continues to defend his lead in the championship with 50 points.

A large field of drivers are expected in the shadow of the Peter and Paul Fortress running the ¨white nights¨ first time evening event in the history of the sport by starting the feature at 20 :00 local (GMT+3) or 1200 EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) on the East Coast of North America.
