Friday, 21 November, ABU DHABI (UAE): For the second time in two days Australia's Briney Rigby thumped the opposition, leaving the chasing pack of nine in her wake to take her second win and overall victory in round three of the F-4S Trophy in Abu Dhabi.
The Qatar duo of Khalid Al-Kuwari and Mohamed Al-Obaidly achieved the team's best result finishing second and third, with Al-Obaidly taking third overall behind the Trophy points' leader Mike Szymura who's fourth place was enough to take second overall.
After topping the time sheets in practice and grabbing pole position in qualifying in the morning sessiosn, 16-year-old Rigby was leading from Jan Andre Landsnes and Szymura when Team CTIC China's Wu Bingchen flipped over and out of the race after the second turn of the start lap, bringing out the yellow flag.
After being held behind the safety boat for three laps, the young Team Sweden driver managed the restart well and maintained her place at the front of the field at the restart, extending her lead lap-by-lap to win by over six seconds.
Behind her the two Qatari drivers enjoyed a close race long tussle, Al-Obaidly hanging on to Al-Kuwari and closing to within a second but was unable to find a way past his senior teammate.
F1 GC Atlantic's Mike Szymura trailed Landsnes for the majority of the race but finally saw an opening on the penultimate lap of 20 to pass the Motorglass F1 driver and move up into fourth.
Ronny Mathys came home in sixth for Team Mad Croc, with Team Nautica's Sigitas Mickus finishing ahead of the UAE duo of Rashed Al Remeithi and Mohamed Al Mehairbi, who received a one lap penalty for not maintaining his lane at the start.
