Medically Cleared To Return After Exam In USA!
ABU DHABI, UAE – 25th of July, 2008 – The “season of stun” continues with a story coming out of America today that 4-time World Champion Scott Gillman has been cleared this week by the world re-noun Cleveland Clinic to return to the cockpit of his racing boat for U.I.M. F1 World Championship for power boating series.
After flying back to the United States a few weeks ago, the Race Manager for the Abu Dhabi Team, quietly checked into the Cleveland, Ohio clinic and was told after a long and through medical examination that his arteries around his heart, with a year of proper drugs combined with healthcare, were now totally clear of any type of blockage and that he was given immediate clearance to return to racing.
The question now is, when? The 49 year-old driver who has been in the sport since 1987 when he began in the old International Outboard Grand Prix (IOGP) series in North America, now has to decide if he wants to re-start his career or continue to be a full time manager of the very successful and talented Abu Dhabi Racing effort based in the United Arab Emirates.
“Its great news”, said the driver from California. “I wasn’t expecting this. Its wonderful that now I can make the decision to go back or not to go back to the sport that I’ve loved and respected for over 20 years. I feel I’m still at the top of my game. When I return? Or will I return? I haven’t made that decision yet.”
The driver who was such a mystery to everyone in the paddock and made such a splash on the sport during his rookie season back in 1997 by winning his first U.I.M. F1 World Championship, has totally embraced the world championship series and enjoys his time living an international life style making his home in Abu Dhabi most of the year with stays in Italy and North Carolina during the summer recess of the season.
Scott is expected to appear next week at the Annual Bud Light St. Louis Grand Prix at a race that past U.I.M. F1 World Champions Renato Molinari, Gene Thibodeaux, Jon Hill, Jonathan Jones, Fabrizio Bocca, Guido Cappellini along with Scott during the 37 years of the worlds have all raced there.
Will he race again or will he not? The important news is that the pilot that has earned the respect of people all over the world is healthy again and can now live a normal lifestyle, something that was only a possibility 10 months ago. Modern medicine, you have to love it.
